Global Village School Marks 2025 Achievements and Welcomes New Leadership
Ojai, United States – February 25, 2026 / GLOBAL VILLAGE SCHOOL /
Global Village School (GVS) is proud to announce a series of significant achievements in 2025, marking a year of growth, transition, and continued commitment to educational excellence. With over 900 students enrolled and many hundreds more using our curriculum in 50 U.S. states and more than 57 countries, the school has solidified its position as a leader in international homeschooling. This milestone reflects the school’s dedication to providing a unique homeschool-private school hybrid model that prepares students to become informed and engaged global citizens.
For over a quarter of a century, Global Village School has been at the forefront of innovative alternative education, offering an accredited program that caters to diverse learning needs. The school’s approach combines the flexibility of online homeschool education with the rigor of a private school, allowing families to tailor their educational experiences. This model has resonated with families around the world, including secular homeschoolers, Buddhists, UUs, LGBTQIA families, families from Montessori and Waldorf backgrounds, unschoolers, students living and traveling abroad, actors, athletes, self-directed learners, students with learning differences, and more.
As Global Village School celebrates its achievements, it also honors the legacy of its founding Executive Director, Sally Carless. Under her leadership, the school has flourished, establishing a reputation for excellence and inclusivity. GVS embraced DEI before it became trendy and continues to do so today, even as it’s being censored. Sally’s vision for education has inspired countless students and families, and her commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment has been instrumental in the school’s success. As she transitions from her role, the school is excited to continue her mission of empowering students to thrive in an interconnected world.
In a seamless leadership transition, Tanya MacGumerait, an employee of Global Village School for over 20 years, has been appointed as the new Executive Director. Tanya brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the school’s values and mission. Her dedication to education and her passion for nurturing global citizens make her an ideal leader for this next chapter. The transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity in the school’s operations and to uphold the high standards that families have come to expect.
Tanya expressed her enthusiasm for taking on this new role, stating, “I am honored to continue the incredible work that Sally has done over the years. Global Village School has always been a place where students can discover and explore their passions and develop a lifelong love for learning. I look forward to building on this foundation and expanding our reach to even more families around the world.”
In addition to the leadership transition, Global Village School is excited to announce the launch of the Sally Carless Better World Fund endowment. This fund is designed to support the school’s mission and provide resources for students and families in need. The endowment will ensure that the school can continue to offer its unique educational model to a diverse population, increasing accessibility to international homeschooling. The establishment of the Sally Carless Better World Fund is a testament to Sally’s enduring impact on the school and its community. It reflects her belief in the power of education to change lives and create a better future for all. The fund will provide scholarships, resources, and support to families facing financial challenges, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit from the school’s accredited homeschool program.
As Global Village School looks to the future, it remains committed to its mission of preparing students for a rapidly changing world. The school’s innovative curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, media literacy, and global awareness, equipping students with the skills they need to navigate the complexities of modern life. With a focus on social responsibility and cultural understanding at a time when those ideals are being undervalued, Global Village School is dedicated to nurturing compassionate and informed global citizens.
The school’s global reach is a testament to its effectiveness in meeting the needs of families seeking an alternative to traditional education. With students from diverse backgrounds and cultures, Global Village School fosters a rich learning environment where students can learn from one another and develop a broader perspective on the world. This diversity enhances the WASC-accredited educational experience, preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected society.
In conclusion, Global Village School is celebrating a year of remarkable achievements and a smooth leadership transition that honors the legacy of its founding Executive Director, Sally Carless. As Tanya MacGumerait steps into her new role, the school looks forward to building on its strong foundation and expanding its impact in the years to come.
